Why Simplenote? Simplenote is everything note-taking apps are supposed to be – they should digitally resemble the experience of a notepad in the most sophisticated way possible. There are no superfluous animations, coloring, and features I don’t necessarily require to feed the information. It’s merely a list of your notes, comes with tagging abilities so that you can categorize them, has a recovery option in case you would like to restore a deleted file, even has a dark theme, and most importantly, manages multiple platform sync ideally....

It’s Twitter Lite. Yes, the progressive web app Twitter launched a few months ago. A couple of days back, I accidentally ended up on the website and found myself quite satisfied with its feature set. Twitter must have made some significant changes recently as when I tried it after its original launch; the app lacked a sense of responsiveness I expect from a social networking platform. Nevertheless, as an experiment, I added Twitter Lite to my homescreen, enabled notifications for it and disabled the native Twitter app....

A little bit of context – the 1984 ad was supposed to showcase how the Macintosh was radically different from all the other computers out there. How it represented a different world from the uniform, predictable one which was being controlled by a “Big Brother” (IBM in that case) who was actually restricting you for its own benefit. The Macintosh was the hammer thrown at that world of uniformity. In retrospect, Windows 10 had about 400 Million back in September pointing at a steady growth throughout the almost two years. Microsoft did plan to hit a Billion in two-three years initially, however, they backpedalled on that pretty quickly when the company admitted: “it will take longer than FY18 for us to reach our goal of 1 billion monthly active devices.” It’s also worth noting here that the 500 Million figure includes not only personal computers, but also Xbox gaming consoles, and other platforms Windows 10 services....

You can see what appears to be some kind of Xbox Live integration, taking up a corner of what’s presumably a new home screen for the OS. There are also big, finger-loving notice icons for calls, text messages, and email, with sections for Facebook, Pictures and “Me” filling out the rest. We don’t have any more information about this, but we believe these are genuine screenshots of Windows Mobile OS....

Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite: Design and Display In terms of design, the phone features a near bezel-less design with a waterdrop-style notch on the top for the front camera and a rectangular camera module on the back for the quad-camera arrangement. Towards the front, it comes with a 6.57-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and an in-display fingerprint scanner for authentication. The phone comes in three color options: White, Gray, and Green....

The specifications of the Redmi 6 Pro as follows – There’s a 5.84-inch display with a Full HD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio, thanks to the notch housed at the top, which is a first for the Redmi lineup. Even though there is a notch, the bottom bezel seems to be quiet thick taking away the visual appeal of the device. Under the hood, there’s Xiaomi’s favorite chipset, the Snapdragon 625, which is an octa-core chip clocked at 2....

But the Y1 is not quite like any other budget smartphone that the company has launched so far – it is the first from the Xiaomi stable to be targeted at selfie lovers, with a front-facing camera that has a higher megapixel count than the rear one. Is this is going to be another hit straight off the bat by the company? Or will it stumble in selfieland (we did not say “selfiestan”!...

In most conferences, this would be the signal for someone (generally a young lady) to walk to the person and hand him or her a microphone to ask their question. Roidmi’s parent firm Xiaomi is yet to enter the highly competitive US market with its smartphone offerings, rather it plans to use its subsidiaries first to improve its branding in the country. In fact, in spite of boasting the biggest display we have seen on an iPhone – 6.5 inches (would that make Steve J turn in his grave? Another story, another time, folks) – it is actually… wait for it… it is actually smaller in size than the iPhone 8 Plus, which had a display that was 5.5 inches. The XS Max is 157.5 mm long, 77.4 mm wide and definitely on the thinner side at 7....

New(ish) Design? Before we speak about the phone itself, let’s take a moment to appreciate the bold design of the box the 7T comes in. Takes us back to the OnePlus One. And no, we are not complaining. It’s nice when something stands out every once in a while, and credit to OnePlus for doing exactly that. Not just the box, but the phone makes some bold design choices too....

Classy and surprisingly compact The look itself left us impressed. The Vivo X60 Pro is not too different in overall design from the X50 Pro we saw last year, but then the X50 Pro was a very good-looking phone and the X60 Pro follows in its very good-looking footsteps. Trendy but not a trendsetter The new age smartphone design makes all smartphones come with a tall edge to edge displays, but while they may be getting tall, they have stayed pretty much the same in terms of width. That seems to be different when it comes to the Vivo Z1 Pro. It comes with a 6.5-inch display, but along with looking tall, the phone also looks a little wider as compared to mainstream smartphones....

Small, metallic and with USB Type C and USB Type-A too Western Digital has now returned to that “One Drive To Store Them All” formula with the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe USB Type C. We will just call it the Ultra Dual henceforth, for the sake of simplicity and a more representative word count. We got the 128 GB version and well, it cuts a very impressive and very compact figure....

Xiaomi and Samsung shares dipped… Statistics can be tricky. A cursory look at the market shares of different brands in the Indian market would seem to indicate that the shares of both the market leaders, Xiaomi and Samsung have slipped a little. Xiaomi had a 27 percent market share in Q3 2018, which is down to 26 percent in Q3 2019. Samsung’s decline seems even more dramatic, from 23 percent in Q3 2018 to 20 percent in Q3 2019....

The iPhone rocked Q4 2019… The iPhone had a superb final quarter of the year. The relatively more affordable iPhone 11 was the best-selling phone of this period. In fact, there were five iPhones in the list of top ten phones – and they were from Number One to Five. Rather surprisingly, the most expensive iPhone of them all, the iPhone 11 Pro Max was at number two, while the iPhone 11 Pro was at three....
