The Mi 9 SE is considered to be a successor of the Mi 8 SE, launched last year. In terms of design, the Mi 9 has a 5.97-inch Full HD+ Samsung AMOLED display with 90.4% screen-to-body ratio and a notch at the top. The device comes with a gradient-finished holographic rainbow spectrum on the back that reflects colors of a rainbow depending upon the angle of the light striking it....

Starting off with the looks, the exterior, the Mi Band 3 retains its traditional look with a pill-shaped tracker that fits snug into a matte black silicone strap. What’s changed though is the flat display on the Mi Band 2 is now replaced by a touch-sensitive 3D curved glass with an ever so slight depression at the bottom which acts as a touch capacitive button. Sunlight legibility was an issue with the Mi Band 2, and the Mi Band 3’s OLED panel, unfortunately, doesn’t do significantly better....

The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is a beautiful looking smartphone that draws its design inspiration from the Mi6. You may end up confusing it with its smaller sibling if you take a quick glance at it’s from a distance. That said, the footprint of the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is markedly larger. This is due to the presence of a 5.5 inch Full HD IPS LCD display. Xiaomi has also made some tweaks in the construction of its flagship phablet....

It is pretty obvious that Xiaomi wanted to bring down the starting price for the Mi Note 3 and thus it has opted for a 4GB RAM instead of the 6GB one. That apart, all the other specifications remain identical to the other Mi Note 3 variants. The new Xiaomi Mi Note 3 variant is priced at 1,999 Yuan ($301) which is a shade cheaper than the 6GB+64GB model which is priced at $345....

Xiaomi Mi Reader: Design and Display Xiaomi Mi Reader: Performance At its core, the Mi Reader comes with a 1.8GHz quad-core Allwinner B300 processor, paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It is equipped with a 1800mAh battery that can be juiced up using the 5V charger over USB Type-C. On the software front, the device runs on a custom UI based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Similar to Kindle, the Mi Reader also supports a wide range of formats, such as TXT, PDF, DOC, XLS, PPT, EPUD, along with an entire suite of compatible WPS and Microsoft Office content....

Starting from this year’s September, Xiaomi’s Android phones that currently include the Mi5, Mi4S, Redmi Note 3, Mi Max and Redmi 3, will be bundled with a range of Microsoft Office products that contain Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and their video calling platform, Skype. These offerings, however, may vary by devices, operators or particular markets. Microsoft has executed such operations before with companies like Asus, Samsung, Sony and as far as customer experience is concerned, it won’t come in the way as the titles can be uninstalled....

Mi Max Mini? In appearance, though, the Note 4 seems to be a chip of Xiaomi’s Mi Max block rather than the Note 3 one. Place the three devices next to each other and the Note 4 bears a far closer semblance to the Max than its own predecessor, with a similar front camera and sensor placement, straighter sides rather than the curved ones on the Note 3 and a flatter, slightly elevated back....

Xiaomi launched the Mi 4i smartphone in India last month. Being marketed as an affordable flagship smartphone, the Mi 4i does pack in a range of impressive hardware modules and cost only Rs.12,999 ($205). It’s a good smartphone for the price. My colleague Nimish Dubey also seemed content with the phone in his initial impressions piece. But as good as the Mi 4i is, many retail versions of the phone are seemingly shipping riddled with a couple of glitches....

Yes, when The Matrix was released in 1999, smartphones were not quite the rage, although PDAs were making their presence felt (hey, Apple had one, remember!). While Qualcomm made these changes without much fanfare, speculations and rumors started gathering storm, and today, Qualcomm’s Sr. Director for Product Management, Camera, Computer Vision and Video, Judd Heape, spoke to a select set of Indian tech journalists to bust some myths surrounding smartphone cameras including the support for cameras up to 192MP. Mr. Heape categorically ruled out the possibility of seeing actual smartphones with 192MP cameras anytime soon, but he said he expects to see Smartphone OEMs launch devices with 100MP and above cameras later this year....

While the latter was busy spending a shedload of money on marketing and retailer margins, the former gradually built its community and image by offering a range of well-balanced phones at remarkably affordable prices exclusively on online platforms. When Xiaomi was done establishing a strong foothold there, the company decided to enter the offline market where its line of phones was already making waves through unofficial channels....

Just as we unboxed the device, our first impressions were that it certainly looks bigger than we expected. The larger form factor can be attributed to the big 10.1-inch 720p display on the front surrounded by some sizeable bezels as against today’s standards. Unlike a smartphone though, you wouldn’t be viewing the display often or use it for content consumption on a regular basis so it shouldn’t really matter. There’s also a front-facing 5MP camera along with an array of four microphones on the top bezel....
